Summer Salsa in Paradise
Thank you for your support of Hawaii's Annual Summer Salsa in Paradise. We regret to inform you that we will not be having this fundraiser in 2010. Please continue to support Salsa events in Hawaii and around the world. With your support, we hope to continue this event in 2011.
Below is a letter from the promoters of the event, Nancy Ortiz and Albert Torres:
We would like to thank each and everyone of you for participating in this year's "9th Annual Puerto Rican Culture & Salsa Festival" - Hawaii Summer Salsa In Paradise-2009, fundraising event for the Hispanic Center of Hawaii.
To all our Local & International Entertainers, Dancers, Instructors,DJ's and our faith full salsa band "Son Caribe" we thank you very much for donating your talents each year to this event---its extremely appreciated.....We Love You!
This event would not have happened without ALL of you working in different areas to make this event successful for all of Hawaii to enjoy; I must say it was successful in that aspect; however, money wise it was not. Due to low turnout and the present economic situation, the Hispanic Center of Hawaii is in the RED, which means we are not able to give out a scholarship as we wanted this year, donate some monies to the founder of this event "Latin Lady DJ Margarita" who is battling with Cervical Cancer, or pay some of the existing outstanding bills we still have for this event.
Just to do this event alone the budget is approximately $15,000+ with the caliber of international entertainment, special insurance, fee for the park, printing of tickets/flyers, advertising, HPD & added Security, airline tickets, hotel accommodations and the list goes on. If we are unable to come up with the necessary funds to balance our books this event will not happen again.
If anyone has any suggestions or is able to donate to the cause.....please do. Any amount is helpful. Your donation is tax deductible as we are a non-profit 501c3 organization.
We thank you wholeheartedly for helping with this event in various ways.
God Bless and We Love You All,
Nancy & Albert
